Last week we reported on how Geri Halliwell's latest pop comeback was in shreds after her new single 'Half of Me', which was only released in Australia where Ginger Spice is a judge on Australia's Got Talent, sold only 393 copies. Well, this has apparently put her in quite reflective mood and she has admitted that she is "gutted" at the single's performance - or lack thereof.
Writing on her blog, Halliwell said: "I saw online around 11pm that my new single (just released in Australia) had come in at number #94... I laughed nervously, god that's really bad! (Deep down I was gutted)."
So bad was the public reaction to the song that Geri decided to scrap plans to perform the single on the finale of Australia's Got Talent last night, essentially admitting that the song is, well, shite.
"What I do know is this... I need to look back... Remember who I am - where I've come from and dust myself off.... As much as I'm afraid to look like a quitter, (because we all want to look like winners right?), I'm not afraid to say - I lost! - Maybe I need to lose well in order to be a good winner?"
Halliwell continued by writing that she was "going to sing something that feels honest, just like home, for you and I, for all of us" on the finale. What did she go for? Yep, you guessed it - an absolutely gut-wrenchingly awful ballad version of 'Wannabe'.
