The country star plans to reissue his 1999 'rock star' album

Just when you had consigned Garth Brooks' 'Chris Gaines' persona to the 'one of those mad things that really famous people sometimes do' memory bank, along it comes once again to shake you from your reverie.

As you may recall, 'Chris Gaines' was a persona adopted by the country superstar back in 1999. Brooks had been cast to play the fictional Australian rock star in a film called 'The Lamb' and debuted an album a year before its scheduled release called 'Garth Brooks in... The Life of Chris Gaines'.

The film never ended up being made, and although he scored a hit with the song 'Lost in You', the album was a major flop. These days, it's nigh impossible to track down - unavailable on any streaming services, out of print and pretty much absent from YouTube (apart from this banging cover by Childish Gambino.)

Now, however, it seems that we may not have heard the last of Gaines.

Brooks recently signed a streaming deal with Amazon, and it seems that the album is being reissued - with previously unreleased bonus material.

“You’re going to have it in every format you can possibly imagine,” Brooks said. “It’s coming.” He continued, “You’re going to have Chris Gaines stuff nobody’s ever heard before either. I love that project, so I’m excited.”

You have been warned.
