The Dublin band's second album was released last July
It's been less than a year since Fontaines D.C. released their last album 'A Hero's Death' - and less than two since the release of their debut 'Dogrel' - but it looks like the Dublin band are already well on the way to their third.
Although they missed out on a Grammy Award yesterday, being beaten to the punch in the Best Rock Album category by The Strokes, the band's bassist Conor Deegan aka Deego revealed some exciting news during their Reddit AMA.
Responding to a fan's question about when they're likely to start recording their third album, he said: "We just finished mixing the next record last week, sounding really great.
"It's funny because we were so swept up with touring when we were writing a hero's death, I think we only got a sense of what that record really is now. But with this one we were really well rested and present mentally for writing it, so the music really reflects that. Can't wait to put it out, it's a good one."
Considering that the mixing process has already been completed, it doesn't leave a huge amount of work to do in terms of completing the album - so fingers crossed, we'll be hearing it at some point this year.
It's been a big few days for the band, particularly in Dublin: not only is their name emblazoned on the front of the new Bohemians FC jersey, but a new mural featuring lyrics from their song 'A Hero's Death' has been painted at the South Bull Wall for Mother's Day.
