The Dublin band pick up their first BRIT nomination
Fresh from their appearance on Jimmy Fallon's talk show in the US at the start of the year, the Irish band have claimed themselves another major nod.
Fontaines D.C. have received a BRIT Award nomination for this year's event. The Dublin band have been nominated in the category of Best International Group.
Grian Chatten, Tom Coll, Carlos O'Connell, Conor Curley, and Conor Deegan will be up against some stiff competition in their nominated category. Up against them will be K-Pop group BTS, as well as Foo Fighters, HAIM, and Run the Jewels.
The band has tweeted their thanks for the nomination, writing on Twitter: "It's great to be recognised by @brits as an International Act. Cheers People. X"
The BRIT Award nominations were presented by Nick Grimshaw and Griff earlier this afternoon, and they were joined by many of the nominees from various other categories. Jessie Ware, Celeste, HAIM, and Arlo Parks all joined the hosts for a quick chat during the reveal of each category.
This year's 41st official BRIT Awards will have musical performances from Dua Lipa and Griff. The chaotic Jack Whitehall will also be back as the presenter of this year's show. This will be his fourth time hosting them.
The awards have traditionally caused many memorable moments over the years, so here's hoping this year's event will provide us with them too. We wish Fontaines D.C. the best of luck at the BRIT Awards!
The BRIT Awards will take place on Tuesday, May 11.
