Idlewild aren't the type to let a little bit of bad luck defeat them. After their record label, Sanctuary, went bust in 2007, shortly after the release of their last album "Make Another World," things were looking bleak for the Scottish rockers. Now they've come up with a innovative new scheme to finance the release of a new album.
Idlewild have asked their fans to contribute £15 (€16.57) in exchange for an advanced copy of the album on its completion as well as exclusive artwork and extra access to the band's website. The money will go towards funding studio time and production costs.
Frontman Roddy Woomble said of the scheme:
"The industry is changing and lots of bands are looking at different approaches...We asked them to buy it before we recorded it which was a bit strange. People as far away as Paraguay and Israel have all paid up and pre-ordered...Doing it this way means we will keep all the copyright of the songs and we can licence it to another record label at a future date."
