Color//Sound, one of the most talked-about newcomers on the Irish music scene, honed their craft at BIMM Dublin, a music college, under the tutorship of the likes of Cathy Davey, Villagers' Cormac Curran and Ollie Cole of Turn.

They'll take to the stage at the Workman's Club tomorrow (13th June) alongside Croupier, Charmers and Maud In Cahoots for the latest edition of the entertainment.ie gig series eLive (for which a handful of free tix still remain).

John Balfe caught up with the band for a chat ahead of the show.

Can you tell us a little about how Color//Sound came to be?

We all met last year through BIMM Dublin, a new contemporary music college thats opened on Francis Street. We played together a few times, we really enjoyed it so we havent stopped

How long have you been together, and what are some of the highlights from the band so far?

Just over year or so. But its been a busy one. We've had a really really busy year of gigging, some of the highlights have been supporting Turn in the Button Factory, being asked to play Workman's Club with Cathy Davey, Conor O'Brien, The Divine Comedy, Lisa O'Neill and more. We played a number of festivals in the last year such as Electric picnic, Vantastival and Life which was incredible. But i think the best thing is getting closer to having a sound we're really proud of.

How fundamental to the development of your music was attending BIMM? Who did you learn from there?

I would say its 50/50. If it wasn't for the coarse we never would have met. The tuition is brilliant, from music business to tuition in our chosen disciplines ( 2 songwiriting, 1 guitar, 1 drums) weve all improved drastically. That being said, it is what you make of it. It's up to the student to put in the work and follow up the "class work" and I think that's what we're trying to do now.

What stage of the course are you at now?

We're all just going into 3rd year.

What are the plans for the band going forward through the summer and towards the end of the year?

Just work as hard as we can, write, rehearse and take any opportunity we get. Being a full time students doesn't give us a lot of time to get together and rehearse for extended periods, i think we're all looking forward to doing that. Any having the crack while we're at it!
