So after months of build-up Electric Picnic has finally arrived and the boutique music festival has descended, somewhat inevitably, to thousands of eager wellie-wearing festival-goers standing in a muddy field. But who would have it any other way? The prohibitive weather which had been grimly forecast all weekend eventually showed face, but it did its best to hold out until people were having too much fun to really care. We were told early yesterday afternoon by a "reliable source" that the heavens would open and unleash its wares over Stradbally from about 6pm. But when that time came, not only was there no rain, the Electric Picnic site was bathed in warm sunshine. So much for the tail end of Hurricane Irene.
