Following last year's 'Kingdom of Rust' album, Manchester rockers Doves are planning to take a two year break from recording.

The band have just release a 'best of' compilation entitled 'The Places Between: The Best of Doves', and are currently touring the UK in support of it. Bassist and guitarist Jimi Goodwin told The Daily Record, "It's nice just to have a bit of breathing space. We just wanted to get off that whole album-tour-album-tour treadmill... None of us are ready to face going into the studio for another two years. This is wiping the slate clean, we have nothing else in the vaults now. That is it. Whatever we do from now on will be a new start."

Goodwin also revealed plans to work with Elbow's Guy Garvey.
"Me and Guy [Garvey] have been talking about it endlessly for years," he explained. "There are a couple of tracks that we have passed back and forwards to each other but it's having the time ... We keep trying to get our diaries together, who knows if it will ever get released. I'm just waiting to see what might happen."
