Donna Summer, known to many as the Queen of Disco, has died early this morning in the state of Florida after a battle with cancer according to reports online. She was 63 years old.

Gossip website TMZ states that Summer was hiding the extent and severity of her illness and that she had even been working on an album of new material at the time of her death.

Summer was a 5-time Grammy award winner, famous for massive hits like 'Bad Girls', 'Hot Stuff' and many more. She was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums rise to the top of the US charts.

The singer is survived by husband of 31 years Bruce Sudano and their two children. She also has a child from a previous marriage to Helmuth Sommer.
