"The details made public do not match my personal experience during our 7 years together as a couple"
With rock musician Marilyn Manson staring down the barrel at multiple allegations from women claiming that he abused them, his ex-wife Dita Von Teese has spoken out about her own experience in a relationship with him.
She released a statement to Instagram that claimed that she did not suffer abuse at his hands.
"I have been processing the news that broke Monday regarding Marilyn Manson. To those who have expressed your concerns of my well-being, I appreciate your kindness.
"Please know that the details made public do not match my personal experience during our 7 years together as a couple. Had they, I would not have married him in December 2005. I left 12 months later due to infidelity and drug abuse."
So far, Von Teese has been the only voice speaking up in Manson's favour. In recent days, his fellow musicians Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails) and Wes Borland (of Limp Bizkit) have condemned the rocker.
Reznor released a statement about his former friend - who he had mentored and toured with in the early part of his career, although later falling out acrimoniously - that took particular umbrage with a passage from his 1998 memoir 'The Long Road Out of Hell', in which Manson wrote: "me and the young Trent Reznor poked our fingers into the birth cavity” of a 'heavily intoxicated' woman.
Reznor's statement said: "I have been vocal over the years about my dislike of Manson as a person and cut ties with him nearly 25 years ago. As I said at the time, the passage from Manson’s memoir is a complete fabrication. I was infuriated and offended back when it came out and remain so today.”
Meanwhile, Borland - who played in Manson's band for almost a year - called him a 'bad f**king guy' on a recent podcast.
"He’s not a great guy," he said. "And every single thing that people have said about him is f**king true. So relax about the allegations towards the women … Like when people [say bad things about] these women that are coming after him right now … F**k off. They are speaking the truth.”
He continued: "And I’m sorry to everyone on this podcast right now who doesn’t like this, but that guy — he’s amazingly talented, but he’s f**ked up and he needs to be put in check and he needs to get sober and he needs to come to terms with his demons. He is a bad f**king guy.”
Manson recently called his former fiancee's allegations a "horrible distortion of reality."
