The funk-soul star will co-produce the film, which will feature his biggest hits

The last few years have seen a number of high profile biopics of musicians - most notably, 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and 'Rocket Man'.

Biopics about Boy George and Amy Winehouse are also reportedly in the works - and now Lionel Richie has thrown his hat into the ring, too.

If you were looking forward to seeing him in St. Anne's Park this month, this news might keep your spirits up instead.

Richie has reportedly struck a deal with  Disney, who are planning to make a 'jukebox-style musical' - i.e. a film that uses his songs, like Mamma Mia! used ABBA's - rather than a biopic.

It's reportedly called 'All Night Long' (of course) and the script is being written by Pete Chiarelli, who wrote the scripts for 'Crazy Rich Asians' and 'The Proposal'.

You can expect to hear everything from 'Hello' to 'Dancing on the Ceiling' to 'Easy' in the mix - so get brushing up on the 100-million-selling 70-year-old's back catalogue.
