The pop star releases her new album this Friday
Demi Lovato has made no secret of the fact that she considers her sexuality as fluid - but now she has confirmed that she is pansexual in a new interview.
The pop star, who releases her new album 'Dancing with the Devil... the Art of Starting Over' this Friday, made the comments in a new interview on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
Lovato, who is the subject of a revelatory new YouTube documentary titled 'Dancing with the Devil' - where she discusses her heroin overdose and being raped by one of her fellow Disney stars as a teenager - had previously labelled herself as 'queer' and said that she was "open to human connection" in 2017. “So whether that’s through a male or a female, it doesn’t matter to me,” she said.
Now, being prodded by Rogan, she expanded on her feelings on the topic when he asked her if she wanted to have children. "I used to. I think if anything I want to adopt," she replied. "I was engaged to a man last year. I totally thought I’d be married, maybe pregnant by now. And that’s not the case. I also don’t know if I’m going to end up with a guy, so I can’t really see myself maybe getting pregnant. I’m so fluid now — and a part of the reason why I am so fluid is because I was super closeted-off."
When Rogan asked her to clarify whether that meant she was attracted to both men and women - and whether 'pansexual' is the word she'd used to define herself - she said: "Yeah — anything really. Yeah, pansexual."
Lovato ended her engagement to actor Max Ehrich last year, after four months of dating. She had previously been in relationships with pop star Joe Jonas, actor Wilmer Valderrama and fashion designer Henry Levy.
In the Rogan interview, she added that she was proud to be a part of the 'alphabet mafia', referring to the LQBTQ+ community.
