Remember when Delorentos tugged at your heartstrings by announcing their decision to disband back in February? You shed a single silent tear and rushed out to buy a ticket to one of their farewell shows. Well, you needn't have bothered, 'cause the lads are staying together.
After a difficult 2008, Ronan Yourell had decided to leave the band after they finished recording their second album. Now, according to a blog on the band's myspace, he has reconsidered and asked the band if they'd take him back. Now, personally I'd tell him to take a long walk off that proverbially short cliff, but the Delorentos, being the nice bunch of lads that they are, have welcomed him back with open arms.
Yourell blogged:
"It's a cliche, but I took those closest to me for granted. In studio I was reminded of the reasons I first got so excited about this group and it also afforded us the time to talk and see delorentos and ourselves from a different perspective... I'd like to apologise to all our friends. The dramatic press release a couple of months back, was in hindsight premature, but we wanted to be open and honest about what was going on... I'm grateful to NĂal, Kieran and Ross for their friendship and understanding and I'm very excited at the prospect of playing our new songs for you"
So, it won't be your last opportunity to catch them, but Delorentos play venues in Waterford, Cork, Dundalk, Limerick, Galway and Dublin this coming May. See our gig listings for more details.
