Any of you lucky sods in possession of a Glastonbury ticket for this summer could be on the verge of seeing one of the festival's most anticipated comedy performances in recent years, after Ricky Gervais has opened the door on having his David Brent character from The Office perform at Worthy Farm.
Gervais will play two shows as David Brent next month as part of a new television show he is involved in and is toying with the idea of taking Brent, who apparently is now a struggling pop star, to one of the world's biggest music festivals - but Gervais isn't entirely comfortable with the concept.
In an interview with the Radio Times, Gervais said that "it would be amazing for Ricky Gervais but I don't know if I can justify David Brent playing Glastonbury because David Brent can't become a real pop star outside the story."
Gervais, though, is keenly aware of David Brent's popularity, telling the same publication that "it's a bit odd, he sells out venues faster than the Rolling Stones at the moment!"
