The Foo Fighters frontman has made a documentary about touring in a van
Considering how almost every musician in the history of the world has described the act of touring as one of the most boring aspects of being in a band, you might think that watching a documentary about it would be like watching paint dry.
When the person behind it is Dave Grohl, however, that changes things slightly.
The Foo Fighters frontman has made a new documentary called 'What Drives Us' that basically focuses on the hows and whys of musicians who sacrifice everything to get in a van and tour with their friends to play music.
Big names like Ringo Starr, The Edge, Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, St. Vincent, Slash from Guns 'N' Roses, Lars Ulrich from Metallica and more will take part, while the main narrative will focus on two up-and-coming touring musicians, Starcrawler and RadKey.
The documentary has been picked up by The Coda Collection and will be available on Amazon Prime from April 30th.
Of course, this isn't the first music documentary that Grohl has made; in 2013 he directed 'Sound City', about the famous Californian studio of the same name, and 'Sonic Highways' documented the journey behind the Foo Fighters album of the same name in 2014.
It's shaping up to be a busy year for Grohl overall, too; in October, he'll publish his first book 'Dave Grohl: The Storyteller'.
