The Foo Fighters man accepted Nandi Bushell's drum challenge
If you didn't already love Dave Grohl, the video below will change your mind.
The Foo Fighters frontman earned his Nicest Man in Rock title many years ago, but he continues to lay waste to all pretenders by doing stuff like this.
Grohl is no stranger to interacting with fans when his band are playing live, often inviting youngsters on stage to sing or play various instruments. With the live music industry at a standstill, Foo Fighters may not be touring - but he's still finding a way to make young fans' dreams come true.
Earlier this month, a 10-year-old girl from England called Nandi Bushell went viral with her super drumming cover of 'Everlong'. The clip went viral, with Nandi saying in the video's title: "“My dream is to one day jam with Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins and all the @Foo Fighters! Mr Grohl I would love to have a drum battle with you! I LOVE Everlong it’s really hard to play as it’s so fast but so much FUN."
At the weekend, Grohl accepted her challenge and posted a short clip of himself playing the old Foo Fighters track to the band's official Twitter, saying "“I haven’t played that song since the day I recorded it in 1997. Our drummer Taylor Hawkins plays that song on tour for us almost every night.”
Hey @Nandi_Bushell!
Challenge accepted.
Haven’t played these songs in a loooooong time.....thanks for the inspiration!!!
Your move!!!
Your friend in rock,
Dave

He also praised the young drummer for her skill, saying “I’ve seen all your videos, I’ve seen you on TV, you’re an incredible drummer. I’m really flattered you picked some of my songs to do for your videos. This is my response to your challenge. Now the ball is in your court", before challenging her to play Them Crooked Vultures' 'Dead End Friends'.
Nandi's response?

It's nice that in the dumpster fire that is 2020, some things - i.e. Dave Grohl being nice to his fans - can be relied upon.
