There's been some bad blood between the two performers
"I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally."
A side of Twitter beef has been served between Blur's Damon Albarn and music superstar Taylor Swift.
Swift, who has had a number of high-profile clashes with musically-minded producers and performers in the past, has been accused by the UK rocker of not writing her own songs. And she's not staying quiet, or shaking off, this fresh dig at her career.
In an interview with The LA Times published this week, Damon Albarn was asked if Taylor Swift relies on "sound and attitude"; which, in itself, is already quite problematic. He said: "She doesn't write her own songs."
He added, "I'm not hating on anybody," further stirring the pot by saying "there's a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes".
Well, Swift saw this remark and didn't hold back with her response on Twitter. The 32-year-old wrote to the 53-year-old: "I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this.
"I write all of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and so damaging.
"You don't have to like my songs but it's really f*cked up to try and discredit my writing. Wow.
"PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering."
Albarn was quick to respond to the callout, allegedly blaiming "clickbait". He wrote: "I totally agree with you. I had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait.
"I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand."
Many fans and performers have been jumping onto the Swift bandwagon following Albarn's speculative opinion - including Jedward. The Irish twins wrote: "Fake AF you said what you said! you are degrading Hope you understand - Jedward."
Back in 2015, Adele famously admitted that she regretted working with Albarn on her album '25'. She said when the pair worked together, it turned into "one of those 'don’t meet your idol' moments". Following her comments, Albarn said he'd "never" work with her again. Well, it seems she's doing just fine without him.
Taylor Swift is currently making her way through the re-recording of all of her earlier albums. Music manager Scooter Braun sold the performer's back catalogue for a second time without her knowledge, which would only see him profit from her releases. Swift's album 'Lover' from 2019 was the first album she had complete ownership of. Her most recent re-recording was 'Red', which was released in 2021.
