There was a time not so long ago where Damien Rice was a regular fixture on the Irish scene. The huge international success and acclaim that his album 'O' delivered to him had the knock-on effect of making his hometown shows a little less regular and, subsequently, much more of a treat - making his newly announced Whelan's show on Tuesday 13th May that much more of a rarity.
The Kildare man has somewhat retracted himself from the music world, not releasing an album for eight years now (1996's '9' was his last offering) but will be making a return to the live scene in 2014, having already announced a string of foreign gigs, including the likes of Switzerland and South Korea on his treks.
This Whelan's show will sell out in a heartbeat, though, so you'd be advised to be online tomorrow morning at 9am (when the tickets go on sale) at www.whelanslive.com and they'll set you back a not unreasonable €25. Who's in?
Damien plays Whelans for their special 25th Anniversary Gig on Tuesday 13th May.
