Paris, New York, Berlin, London? Well, not quite. Any of the aforementioned cities would, on paper at least, seem to be suitably hip to launch the much-anticipated new album from French electronic duo Daft Punk. It seems, however, that the band have taken a slightly different route.
Australian newspaper the Herald Sun is reporting that Daft Punk will launch the new record - Random Access Memories - in the tiny Australian city of Wee Waa, whose population is a mere 1,600.
The album's global launch will take place on May 17th with a show in the city which is about 8 hours from Sydney in north-western New South Wales, where the very first playback of the new material will be heard.
Further details are being kept under wraps but it is expected that media from the world over will converge on the sleepy Australian city for the event. The Herald Sun suggests that the choice of Wee Waa for the launch party was "inspired by the community spirit surrounding the recording of the album."
We expect our invite to be in the mail, right Sony?
