Some actors should stick to their day job
If you've ever thought, "Huh, I wonder what various celebrities would sound like if they decided to sing/dramatically read Olivia Rodrigo's mega hit?", then you're in luck.
And if this extremely normal thought hasn't crossed your mind, then shame on you. Quite a large group of actors and performers took it upon themselves to cover 'Drivers License' by the 19-year-old hit-maker - with various levels of accomplishment.
The video comes courtesy of W Magazine, who have done a number of dramatic readings in the past, but this time around they managed to wrangle an Irish star to take part. Recent SAG Award and IFTA nominee Ruth Negga (for 'Passing') decided to do a dramatic reading of the lyrics to the pop ballad, coming across as quite emotional and stoic.
Her rendition of the song is in stark contrast to some of the other stars who attempted their own unique take. 'Killing Eve' star Jodie Comer held her own by singing the lyrics, as did 'Deadpool 2' actor Zazie Beetz. 'The Power Of The Dog''s Kodi Smit-McPhee, however, tried his best at holding the tune (but should definitely stick to acting).
Smit-McPhee's co-star Kirsten Dunst faired better by delivering a more comical reading of the song lyrics, as did 'Thor' star Tessa Thompson by injecting her own opinion on the words placed in front of her. Kristen Stewart ('Spencer') and Jared Leto ('House of Gucci') both opted for a straight-up reading, while Leslie Odom, Jr. from 'Hamilton' delivered a showstopping performance.
Here's the full video, which also features Jennifer Hudson ('Respect'), Simon Rex ('Scary Movie 5'), Emilia Jones ('CODA') and Filippo Scotti ('The Hand of God') cover 'Drivers License'.
Ruth Negga will be hoping to take home a SAG Award later this month on February 28; the IFTA Awards will take place in March.
