The Clash's Mick Jones and Paul Simonon are to perform together on the same stage for the first time in 27 years.

Jones and Simonon both made guest contributions to the recent Gorillaz album 'Plastic Beach', appearing together on the album's title track. Now, they are set to appear live with Gorillaz at this weekend's Coachella festival in California, if they can get there that is. Many of the festival's acts are in doubt now, as the volcanic ash cloud from Iceland continues to prevent flights leaving the UK. Thankfully, Gorillaz' set isn't supposed to take place until Sunday.

If all goes to plan, this will be the first time Jones and Simonon have performed together live since 1983, when Jones left The Clash. There are also rumoured that the pair will warm up for the show at KROQ radio station's "Secret Coachella Dress Rehearsal". There's no news as to whether any of the many other Plastic Beach guests will appear live with Gorillaz.
