Local council in Carrickfergus really know how to celebrate an anniversary. They're having a party to celebrate 60 years, and they've invited Status Quo. Despite the fact that summer 2009 is set to have fewer outdoor gigs that previous years, Carrickfergus Castle is set to host a major family rock event on the bank holiday weekend (up north) of August 28th and 29th.

Jools Holland will play "Live At The Castle" along with his rhythm and blues orchestra and special guests Dave Edmunds, Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall, Paul Garrick and Dublin rockabilly sensation Imelda May on Friday 28th of August.

Saturday 29th is undoubtedly the bigger night with veteran rockers Status Quo flying in to headline. They will be supported by local blues guitarist Simon McBride, tribute band Tinn Lizzy, Hayseed Dixie and The Saw Doctors.

Tickets for each night are priced £40 and £35 respectively with weekend passes for £65.
