The inaugural Digital Socket Awards took place in the Grand Social last night, with nominees in fourteen category decided by public vote before the winners were chosen by a panel of 26 Irish music bloggers.

There was live music from Groom and Meljoann, while Ham Sandwich turned out to be the night's surprise guests.

Choice Music Prize nominees The Cast of Cheers and Adebisi Shank dominated the awards, each picking up three, while fellow Choice nominee Villagers picked up two for Best Song and Best Folk. We are also delighted to see The Ambience Affair pick up a well deserved Best Video gong for 'Devil In The Detail', the same clip that saw them take home the top prize at the IMTV awards back in November.

All in all, a resounding success. Let's hope the Digital Socket Awards return in 2012. The full list of winners is below, and you can check out all the nominations here.
