The 74-year-old guitarist was rushed to hospital in Michigan
Mexican-born American guitarist Carlos Santana is recovering after suddenly collapsing on stage at a gig in Michigan, US on Tuesday evening.
The 74-year-old musician, best known for fronting the band Santana, his 1999 crossover hit album 'Supernatural' and for his long and illustrious career as a guitarist of note, was 40 minutes into his set at the Pine Knob Music Theatre when he fell over, to the shock of the audience.
Medics rushed onto the stage and the remainder of the concert was cancelled, with the promoter urging fans to 'pray' for Santana.
His manager has since said that he is 'doing well' after being taken to hospital, and is suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion.
A fan told Fox2 news channel: "Suddenly the music just died down. I didn't see him collapse on stage, but everyone had him off to the side... A chair appeared where there was not one before. The medics began to rush up on stage.
"Right now he is still on stage. They have pulled a black curtain so you can't see him on directly but he is still on stage."
Santana was forced to cancel gigs last December after suffering from chest pains, and subsequently underwent a procedure to 'deal with it.'
He was later pictured waving to fans as he was stretchered off the stage.
