The pair have collaborated on one of John's most famous songs

For some time, it seemed like we might never hear a new Britney Spears song - nor see her perform again anytime soon.

However, if reports are to be believed, the pop icon is on the comeback trail with the help of a legend - Elton John himself.

Rumours suggest that Spears, who was released from the suffocating conservatorship that dominated her life last year, is working with the 'Rocket Man' star on a song that everyone will know.

The pair have allegedly recorded a new version of one of John's biggest hits, 'Tiny Dancer', and it will be released in a matter of weeks.

Page Six report an insider as saying: "This was Elton’s idea, and Britney is a huge fan. They have recorded a remix of ‘Tiny Dancer’ as a full duet — and it is incredible. Britney was in the studio in Beverly Hills last week with Elton for the super-secret recording session overseen by uber-producer Andrew Watt.”

They added: "They’ve already played it for people at their record label, and everybody is freaking out. It is so good. They are saying this is going to be the song of the summer. Britney is officially back. She’s back to work, and she’s super excited."

It seems that the newly-married star is certainly gearing up for a return to the spotlight, having recently posted a video of herself singing '.... Baby One More Time' on Instagram, captioning it with “I haven’t shared my voice in an extremely long time … maybe too long.”
