The pop star was considered for the role opposite Ryan Gosling
There have been several revelations from Britney Spears' memoir 'The Woman in Me' in recent weeks.
But one surprising story from the pop star's past revealed how she was very close to being cast opposite her former Mickey Mouse Club co-star Ryan Gosling in 'The Notebook'.
The role eventually went to Rachel McAdams, but apparently Spears came down to the last three women to be considered for the role in the 2004 film and tested opposite Gosling.
Spears had acted in 2002 film 'Crossroads' before that and had she won the role, it may well have sent her career in a different direction - but it seems that following her 'Notebook' disappointment, she concentrated primarily on music.
'The Woman in Me' is published today, and also features revelations including that she had an abortion while in a relationship with Justin Timberlake.
