Damon Albarn has said that Blur will play a number of small 'warm-up' gigs ahead of their Hyde Park headliner next July - prompting speculation that they'll return to their alma mater Goldsmith's College in London for an intimate performance.

He told Absolute Radio that there could also be several dates in Essex, where the band originated.

"We do need to play quite a lot to get ourselves back up to that, you can't just walk on stage at Hyde Park without putting the hours in," he said. "We have to do a lot of warm-up gigs. Personally I'd like to go and visit some places that were really important to us when we were growing up."

Tickets for Blur's gig at Hyde Park go on sale to the general public tomorrow.
