Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi seems to have drawn the ire of our Bono, according to the latest batch of wikileaks cables which have been released. In a memo the US embassy in Rome's economic adviser William Meara wrote that Berlusconi considered raising the level of foreign aid during its 2009 EU presidency in order to avoid an embarrassing "tongue lashing" from the U2 frontman.
Berlusconi and Bono have been at odds since the former used the latter's image during an election campaign without approval. Bono stated that Berlusconi had personally told him that Italy would consider cancelling the debts poor countries owed them.
Bono single-handedly attempting to save the world once more? Berlusconi is soon to be releasing an album (yes, seriously) so if Bono is attacking him in the political field, maybe Silvio will retaliate at the top of the charts. Time can only tell on that one..
