A team of technicians at Abbey Road have spent the last four years digitally re-mastering The Beatles' entire back catalogue, and it's finally ready to be released in September.
The thirteen albums have been re-mastered in stereo, by all accounts making it available at its highest fidelity since the albums were first released. These stereo versions will be available as a box set or individually, while a separate box-set of eleven mono recordings will be released on September 9th.
It has not yet been revealed whether the catalogue will be released digitally, but seeing as this release is high-tech enough to embed links to a special mini documentary into the re-mastered albums, it would seem silly not to.
This is the first time since 1987 that The Beatles' recordings have been re-mastered for CD, so there's a whole new generation to give it to as a present. It's surprising this isn't a December release. It's perfect Christmas prezzie material
