Basement Jaxx are set to do a "Daft Punk" and compose the score to a new sci-fi film, albeit a much more low-key affair that recent Disney hit 'Tron'.
The house music duo will write music for 'Attack The Block', an upcoming British science fiction comedy about a group of teens who fight off aliens that invade their South London council estate. This will be the first time Basement Jaxx have written a full film score, though they have previously contributed songs to the soundtracks for films such as 'Bend It Like Beckham' and 'It's Complicated'.
The news came from Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright, who tweeted, "Heard some of Basement Jaxx's score for Joe Cornish's Attack the Block yesterday. Still humming it today. #GoodStuff."
Attack The Block will star Nick Frost and Jodie Whittaker and will be the directorial debut of Joe Cornish, best known as half of the comedy pairing Adam and Joe. It is due for release in cinemas on April 8th.
