Take this one with a pinch of salt for now, but according to www.music-news.com (?), The Smiths are set to reform and embark on a tour.

The news comes from an unaccredited 'source' who claims that the original members of the band have been in discussions with a "well-known promoter" and that they were inspired by the recent reformation of The Stone Roses.

The Smiths, and especially Morrissey, have long been insistent that chances of them getting back together and non-existent since the acrimonious split in 1987.

Is this just a case of a bigmouth blog striking again? That joke really isn't funny anymore. But really, like any fan of The Smiths, I know it's over. What difference does it make?

**UPDATED**

The following appeared on Johnny Marr's official Facebook page: "The rumour of the Smiths reunion is untrue. It's not happening."

That settles that then.
