Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has contributed a number of songs to the soundtrack of new comedy film Submarine.
Telling the story of a teenage boy on a mission to lose his virginity (a British Superbad maybe?), the film is the directorial debut of IT Crowd star Richard Ayoade and caused quite the stir at this year's Sundance festival.
According to HitFix, Turner recorded the six songs in question mostly on acoustic guitar and piano with the help of producer and Simian Mobile Disco man James Ford. He is set to release his musical contributions to the film on an EP on March 11th.
Meanwhile, NME has reported that Ford is also working with the Arctic Monkeys on the follow up to their brilliant 2009 album 'Humbug', which should be released before the end of 2011.
The track list for the Submarine soundtrack is as follows:
01 Stuck on the Puzzle (Intro)
02 Hiding Tonight
03 Glass in the Park
04 It's Hard to Get Around the Wind
05 Stuck on the Puzzle
06 Piledriver Waltz
Submarine is screening at the Opening Gala of this year's Jameson Dublin International Film Festival on Thursday February 17th. For more on the film festival visit our dedicated JDIFF page now.
