Looks like this is the time of year when some of your favourite artists knuckle down and work on their new albums.

Sigur Ros have been recording the follow up to 2008's 'Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust' in the Sundlaugin Studio in their native Iceland. Reports suggest the album is near completion, and will be a more ambient affair than previous albums. Drummer Orri Pall DyRason said it would be "melodic but much less noisy and more 'out there' than previous albums".

Mike Skinner, AKA The Streets, has revealed that his new album, "Computers and Blues," will be released in February. Skinner has previously stated that this fifth studio album would be his last under The Streets moniker. Skinner and his band are currently in rehearsals for the as yet untitled follow up to 2008's 'Everything is Borrowed.'

Yoko Ono has recruited her son Sean Lennon as well as Cornelius, Yuka Honda of Cibo Matto, and a group of NYC improv artists for her upcoming album "My Head and the Sky." Yoko and her Plastic Ono Band are due to play London's meltdown festival with Antony Hegarty and Mark Ronson, and will also release an EP entitled "Don't Stop Me" on June 9th.

Cardiff twee indie poppers Los Campesinos! have said that their forthcoming third album will be a much darker record than fans are used to. The album is just weeks away from competition after a three week recording session in Seattle with producer John Goodmanson.

With all these as well as new albums from Why?, Jay Reatard and Vivian Girls on the way, you better get ready for a very tight 2010.
