The song is a poignant ballad written for Covid times
It goes without saying that it's been a tough year for everyone involved in the live entertainment industry - both performers and otherwise.
With that in mind, Alanis Morissette has released a new single - just months after the release of her album - to help those in the industry who need it most.
All profits from 'I Miss the Band' will go to US-based charity Backline, an organisation that financially enables music industry professionals and their families to seek help from mental health and wellness providers.
The Canadian star - whose last album 'Such Pretty Forks in the Road' was released last July - said "Life in this industry can be incredibly isolating and difficult.
"Backline provides a safe, private, and immediate place to go for help. Available for free to artists, managers, agents, crew, producers, labels, and their families, Backline programs offer case management, support groups, and wellness programs to meet the needs of this unique community."
