The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach was the big winner at last night's Grammy Awards, scooping three of the rock category awards as well as the prestigious Producer of the Year gong. The Ohioan band's El Camino album was given the honour of being named Best Rock Album, while its lead single 'Lonely Boy' was deemed the Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance. Auerbach won the producer award for his work on Dr. John's excellent Locked Down album.
Elsewhere, Mumford & Sons somewhat surprisingly won the Best Album Grammy for their oft-maligned album Babel. Collecting the award, the band's frontman Marcus Mumford echoed the crowd's surprise when he said: "We figured we weren't going to win anything because The Black Keys have been sweeping up all day, rightfully so."
Fun. took home the award for Best New Artist, despite being together since 2008, and Song of the Year for the Janelle Monae collaboration 'We Are Young'.
Gotye kept the momentum from last year's superhit 'Somebody That I Used To Know' by winning Record of the Year and two further awards.
Prince emerged on stage in a hood, shades and aided by a silver cane (he's Prince, damn it. He can do what he likes.) to give the award to Gotye, who seemed a little overcome by the moment.
"A little bit lost for words to receive an award from the man standing behind us with the cane", ", the Belgian-Aussie said. "Many years listening to this man's music growing up and a big reason I was inspired to make music. Thank you."
Meanwhile, Jay-Z and Kanye West won three awards - one of which was shared with Frank Ocean - while Skrillex was among a handful of artists who won two awards.
Adele added another Grammy to her collection with the first award of the night (the televised portion, at least) for Best Solo Pop Performance for 'Set Fire To The Rain'.
