Her 'Weekends with Adele' residency was pulled at the 11th hour
Adele has been in the news in recent days for a positive reason - her triumphant return to the live stage - but it hasn't been plain sailing for the Londoner.
The pop superstar played the first live show since releasing her fourth album '30' at London's Hyde Park over the weekend, and by all accounts it was a fabulous show.
However, during an interview with Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 4 over the weekend, she revealed that she had struggled after being forced to postpone her 'Weekends with Adele' Las Vegas residency at the 11th hour earlier this year.
At the time, she blamed logistical problems and apologised to fans for the late notice, cancelling the run the day before it was due to begin. "We’ve tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you," she said in a tearful video, "but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID."
In the BBC Radio interview, she said that she was 'devastated.'
|I definitely felt everyone’s disappointment and I was devastated and I was frightened about letting them down,” she said. "I thought I could pull it together and make it work and I couldn’t. I don’t think any other artist would have done what I did, and I think that is why it was such a massive, massive story."
She added that she was "a shell of a person for a couple of months" after making the decision, but added "You can’t buy me for nothing. I’m not going to just do a show because I have to or because people are going to be let down or because we’re going to lose loads of money."
The residency has yet to be rescheduled - nor has she released any details of a tour to accompany '30''s release.
