'Gripe' is from the late 1980s, when the band were still known as 'On a Friday'
If you're a big Radiohead fan, this item may well complete your memorabilia collection.
An early demo by the pioneering Oxford band - so early, in fact, that they were still known as 'On a Friday' - is going up for auction later this month.
The cassette tape from 1987/88 is available via Omega Auctions as part of their Punk and Indie Auction on January 26th and has a guide price of £2,000 (€2,247) - although at time of writing, bidding has already reached £3,600 (€4000).
It's titled 'Gripe' and features an inlay card designed by Thom Yorke, with three songs titled 'These Are the Chains', 'Body in a Box' and 'Promise Me'.
The seller wishes to remain anonymous but says that they were given the tape by a member of the band.
The description reads:
"Demo cassette from 1987/88 entitled "Gripe" with Thom designed inlay card.
Thom has written on the cassette "Gripe + 3 trax at beginning" and then on the inlay card he has written on the inside "Before the ones overleaf are the following (most recent recordings 1989) Promise Me (Thom), Body(?) in a box (Colin/Thom), These are the Chains (Thom).
These 3 tracks are previously unheard and undocumented and in addition to these are the tracks Happy Song, To Be A Brilliant Light and Sinking Ship which are detailed on the red inlay card."
