A Professor of Outkastism? If it's your life ambition to study the work of Andre 3000 and Big Boi, you're in luck.
Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia has introduced a course on the Atlantan hip-hop duo titled "Outkast and the Rise of the Hip-Hop South".
Run by Professor Regina Bradley, she says that the course will investigate “ideas about the South and southernness seep into other Southern writers", and place a focus on dissecting themes used by Outkast in their music, how hip-hop can be used as a valid political expression and "to understand and study how the South has changed in the last 50 years."
Bradley is writing a book on Outkast at the moment, so is undoubtedly well-versed in their music - but we're guessing that she'll leave their more frivolous fare like 'Hey Ya!' off the 'prescribed reading' list...
