The line-up for this year's Royal Hospital, Kilmainham certainly takes in an eclectic mix of bands, from Icelandic post-rockers Sigur Ros (June 26th), to Welsh indie outfit Stereophonics (June 30th), to electronica duo Disclosure (June 28th) and dance stalwarts Faithless (July 2nd).

With such an eclectic mix of bands and artists in the mix, there are bound to be a few things about the assembled line-up that you're not aware of.

So, here are 8 things you may not know about the acts on this year's RHK gig programme.

1) Faithless celebrated their 20th anniversary as a band last year, but their combined age as a band (143) adds up to a lot more. Remarkably, frontman Maxi Jazz just celebrated his 59th (!) birthday. In comparison, the youngest combined age of a group on the RHK bill is Disclosure (22 + 25 = 47).

2) We could have been watching the work of Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones, rather than listening to it, if things had worked out differently. Before he formed the band, he was an aspiring screenwriter and studied film at college.

3) Sundlaugin is Sigur Rós's recording studio, in the Icelandic town of Mosfellsbær, 7 miles outside Reykjavik. Before it was bought and converted by the band, it was an abandoned swimming pool that was built in the 1930s.

4) James Vincent McMorrow, who is supporting Sigur Rós, has a credit on one of the biggest albums of the year so far – Drake's 'Views'. You can hear his voice in the background of the track 'Hype'.

5) It's little wonder that Lawrence brothers Howard and Guy of Disclosure (above) grew up to be musicians; they're following in their (non-famous) parents' footsteps. Their dad was in several '80s bands, while their mum was a singer who sang on cruises, radio jingles and even sang for the British Army during the Falklands war.

6) Justin Young, frontman of The Vaccines (who are supporting Stereophonics), once shared a flat with Marcus Mumford and Winston Marshall of Mumford & Sons. Mumford and Young even collaborated, back in Young's pre-Vaccines days when he was known as Jay Jay Pistolet.

7) Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi (above) has been blind in his right eye from birth, as a result of broken optic nerve.

8) Stereophonics – or the band that would become Stereophonics - recorded their first-ever demo under the band name 'Zephyr'. They later changed their name to 'Tragic Love Company' before settling on 'Stereophonics', taken from a manufacturer' name on the side of a gramophone.
