The Dublin singer-songwriter has just released his Christmas single

Eoin Glackin has three albums to his name, and he recently added a Christmas track to his back catalogue too, with the release of 'Any Old Christmas Will Do' – which came to him while putting up his Christmas tree unusually early.

“Never in our wildest dreams would we have put it up so early, but this year, the rules are out the window. We’re all just trying to grab any bit of joy and light we can,” he said. “As we were decorating the tree, this song started writing itself in my head. All of a sudden, without planning it, I had written my first Christmas song."

The Dublin singer-songwriter also recently released the single 'El Dorado', which you can hear below.

1. What’s the music that you listened to growing up, that you still listen to today?
My holy trinity was always Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Bruce Springsteen. They kick-started something and although I wander down other streets, I always end up knocking on their door again after a while.

2. In three words, describe the minute before you walk on stage.
Last bathroom run.

3. How do you wind down after a gig?
Just have a bit of a sit-down and decompress. I heard Springsteen has a “no booze before midnight” rule for the band on tour, which sounds cruel but does make a bit of sense. If you try to keep that level of adrenaline going, artificially, you’re setting yourself up for a fall. Chill out, have a chat, and then crack a beer if you feel like it.

4. What’s the one song you wish you’d written or recorded first?
'Heyday' – Mic Christopher.

5. You can only have three albums on your phone/in your house at any one time - what three would you pick for today?
'Sham' – The Mary Janes
'Ten New Songs' – Leonard Cohen
'Tattoo' – Rory Gallagher

6. Name one record, one book and one film that everyone should hear/read / see.
Record: BB King – 'Live at the Regal'
Book: 'Awake in the Dark – The Best of Roger Ebert'. If you have an interest in film or film journalism, Roger Ebert is the mountain top.
Film: 'Saturday Night Fever'. I revisit it every 5 years or so. Watch it young and then check back with it every now and then, it grows with you.

7. Pick the director and lead actor(s) for a biopic about your life.
There is a young Irish filmmaker by the name of Jason Branagan who does great things. I’d trust him to tell my story, which wouldn’t take long.
If Sam Rockwell can manage the accent, he can have the gig!

8. You’re ordering takeaway, what do you get?
Any combination of chips, curry, batter and meat is good. “What do you mean you don’t sell rock shandy!?”

9. Describe your perfect day off.
A pub crawl around Ramelton, Co. Donegal. Starting in Conway's, ending in the Bridge Bar. Hopefully stumbling across Mark Black playing some blues along the way.

10. Tell us, in one sentence, why we should come to your next gig.
I could use the cash.
