The Belfast musician is about to release his new EP 'Life Now'

After four years grafting in the London music scene, Conor Scott returned home to Belfast, ready to roll his sleeves up and continue his drive for his musical dream – and then the pandemic happened.

Nevertheless, the Northern Irish musician found himself in a creative purple patch and began writing songs that stemmed from 'an objective view of the world', differing to his previous fare – many of which would have been about relationships.

One of them is his new single 'Slip', the latest track from his forthcoming EP 'Life Now' and a track about moving home after years spent away.

He already has a fan in Danny O'Donoghue having impressed him on The Voice UK many moons ago - but we caught up with Conor to learn more about him.

1. What's the music that you listened to growing up, that you still listen to today?
Thin Lizzy, The Police, Queen.

2. In three words, describe the minute before you walk on stage.
Bathroom… Last Chance.

3. How do you wind down after a gig?
On the Ryan McMullan tour, we tended to be travelling quite a bit at night, especially in Europe - so winding down consisted of raiding the drinks cabinet in the venue's dressing room, jumping into the van and having a few beers in the back as we travelled onto the next spot. No heavy drinking like, haha - just a few to calm the nerves and settle ourselves into the night.

4. What’s the one song you wish you’d written first?
'Fairytale of New York'. That’d be a lovely Christmas bonus every year.

5. What’s the last thing you watched on TV?
'Your Honor' with Bryan Cranston. Great watch.

6. Name one record and one film that everyone should hear / see.
'Band On The Run' - Wings and 'Goodfellas'.

7. What's your biggest pet peeve?
Bad manners in any shape or form.

8. Who's the most famous person saved to your phone contacts?
Eamonn Holmes... but that’s only because he’s my mum’s cousin! It's between Eamonn or Danny O’Donoghue.

9. You’re ordering take-away, what do you get?
Indian every time. The hottest Chicken Madras on the menu with pilau rice and garlic & coriander naan.

10. Describe your perfect day off.
Just a really sunny beach day with a load of beers, bbq food and friends having the craic.

BONUS QUESTION: Recommend a podcast and tell us why we should subscribe to it.
Pulling Favours. It’s a great listen - two Donegal lads interviewing folks from all over Ireland across loads of different backgrounds like music, comedy, sport. It’s really great, not even in an interview way but more so friendly easy listening conversations on a range of topics. I was recently a guest on the show too, which was great craic. Aside from that, the General Banter podcast with Colin Geddis for pure Belfast craic - nearly in tears laughing  after every episode.
