We've trawled YouTube for the best interpretations of the duo's back catalogue
It's been almost a week since Daft Punk dropped the bombshell that they were splitting up after 28 years together, and we're still not quite over it.
Instead, we've spent most of the last six days with their albums on rotation. And when we haven't been listening to Daft Punk, we've been trawling YouTube for 'best Daft Punk covers'.
As it happens, there are more than a few half-decent ones out there, so we thought we'd share a selection of them with you.
1. The Royal Concept – 'Digital Love'
This is the sort of cover that just makes you bang your desk because of how brilliant it is. This Swedish rock band took on a classic track, built it slowly and made it pop. It's celebratory and joyful and sounds like a band having a great time jamming together.
2. Rundfunk-Tanzorchester Ehrenfeld - 'Harder Better Faster Stronger'
This eclectic orchestra from Cologne, Germany have covered multiple Daft Punk songs in the past, but this take on one of the duo's most iconic tracks has to be their best.
3. Pomplamoose – 'Something About Us'
American husband and wife duo Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn have had huge success with their various DP covers, but this track from 'Discovery' just about pips the others.
4. Koji Kobura – 'Around the World'
'Around the World' is one of Daft Punk's most intricate songs, but self-confessed Japanese 'music enthusiast' Koji Kobura's manipulation of the track via a MIDI controller makes it look like a piece of cake.
5. Pentatonix – 'Daft Punk Medley'
Okay, disclaimer time... anything that Pentatonix do is usually smeared with a healthy dollop of cheese. Nevertheless this medley, performed entirely via the a cappella group's voices and with not a single instrument to be found, is pretty impressive.
6. Laura Lace – 'Aerodynamic'
Latvian bassist Laura Lace is pretty handy with her instrument, to say the least. Here, she's joined by a full band, Vi Gi, to recreate one of Daft Punk's best known riff-based tracks and it is brilliant.
7. London Elektricity Big Band – 'One More Time'
Granted, the sound isn't great on this track but if you've ever wondered what 'One More Time' sounds like with a ska tinge, this is it. This also makes us really miss live music.
8. Constantine Bard – 'One More Time'
... and if you've ever wondered what 'One More Time' might sound like played via medieval instruments (and let's face it, who hasn't?), this will answer your question. It's actually pretty good, to be fair.
9. Flash Mob Jazz – 'Get Lucky'
'Get Lucky' has become one of Daft Punk's biggest songs because of its radio-friendly nature, but it's difficult to capture the brilliance of the original. This English swing/jazz band put a completely different spin on the funk-pop track, and it somehow works brilliantly.
10. The DIY Sessions – 'Around the World'
If you're in the market for a downtempo version of 'Around the World' played by one guy via a loopstation, well... you won't do much better than this.
