In one of the pieces of most ill advised casting ever, Rik Mayall plays Merlin in this medieval romp that transports the round table action to the modern day. Jutting between contemporary times and their own epoch, Merlin and King Arthur (a woeful Patrick Bergin) have to do battle with Tia Carerre's evil scientist (is there any other kind?). With such a woefully inept script, acting and direction, Merlin should, by rights, be so bad it's actually perversely enjoyable. Instead, it merely transcends any level of kitsch and nestles in the realms of the profoundly awful. Avoid.
