Light, breezy and cheerful, Man About Dog is a silly but enjoyable caper movie which sees a trio of scally wags, Mo Chara (Allen Leech), Scud Murphy (Ciaran Nolan) and the suitably named Cerebral Paulsy (Tom Murphy, from Adam and Paul) getting up to their necks in a scam involving a greyhound and (dis)organised criminals.

Director Paddy Breathnach is an old hand at the Irish road movie, having helmed the woefully underrated I Went Down, and he employs his experience to good effect with this dishevelled but likeable affair. While Man About Dog follows wide arcs rather than definition in terms of humour and characterisation, the lightness of touch of the director and the brashness of the characters makes it a trip worth taking.
