A gripping new Irish feature King Frankie starring Peter Coonan (Love/Hate, Doineann) will open in Irish cinemas on Friday 11th October. The film which weaves a tale of greed, grief, redemption and hope is the debut feature from writer/director Dermot Malone.
King Frankie tells the story of a man driven by the desire for monetary success, only to find himself facing the consequences of his choices. The film explores the journey of Frankie (Coonan), a taxi driver and owner of a small taxi firm. On the day of his father's funeral, Frankie is forced to confront a traumatic event from ten years previous. As he grapples with the weight of this reckoning, his journey toward forgiveness - and ultimately redemption - begins.
Described by the filmmakers as "a Celtic Tiger tale you've never seen before," the film captures a raw, emotional narrative about the promises we make to others and to ourselves-and the strength it takes to keep them.
