A character-driven ensemble piece that betrays its theatrical origins, Hurly Burly follows the fortunes of Eddie as he tries to haul himself out of the coke-fuelled ammoral squalor that is his life as a casting director in LA. The Pitch: LA casting director Sean Penn comes to terms with his soulless, coke-fuelled existence.

The Verdict: Strong performances are eventually undermined by a preachy script
