While an examination of violence and those who perpetrate it are difficult central tenants, Code Unknown is given a human core by the presence of the versatile Binoche. Undoubtedly a difficult film since most of the central players are depicted with all of their flaws and Haneke's refusal to over simplify proceedings by joining the many narrative threads into one unsatisfying whole, Code Unknown allows the audience to draw its own conclusions from the characters motivations. Interesting stuff.
