A foray by director Pineyro that owes a debt of gratitude to Bonnie and Clyde, Burnt Money is a heady cocktail of sex, money and betrayal. With its central protagonists, the Twins, being gay lovers who are also bank robbers, Burnt Money is bound to infuriate as many as it will enchant. Eschewing the sort of cliché-ridden stereotypes that Hollywood specialises in when it comes to homosexual relationships, Burnt Money instead offers a very real and, oft frightening, depiction of love on the run. This coupled with Pineyro's non-judgmental stance on his characters' motivations ensures that Burnt Money is one of the must-sees of the festival calendar.
