Berlin, 1943. Lilly (Kohler) is a well-respected mother of four children, who finds herself irrevocably attracted to Felice (Schrader). Aside from her flamboyant lifestyle and relatively open homosexuality, Felice is also a Jew. Although the attraction between the two women is mutual, each must come to terms with their own position in society before they embark on an affair - a tryst that will have devastating consequences. An emotional and stirring account of two women's love for each other in extreme times, Aimee and Jaguar is both a moving and difficult film. The two main players, Kohler and Schrader, give impressive accounts of themselves and Farberbock handles the affair with care. Where it wants something is in the structure, lacking some thrust when it comes to the more dramatic elements of the film. Even with this in mind, Aimee and Jaguar is still well worth two hours of your time.
