The names Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick may not mean a great deal to you right now, but those two chaps are quickly becoming the go-to guys for genre scripts in Hollywood, having penned the brilliant Zombieland. First up, they've signed on to reboot Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds attached as the wisecracking assassin, and now they've been hired to pen G.I. Joe 2.

Wolverine was a financial success, but was a critical bomb, with most scribes attacking it for a lack of character coherence - Reynolds in particular was utterly wasted. G.I. Joe won't appear on anybody's 'best of' list, but it showed enough potential and made enough coin to warrant a franchise, and Reese and Wernick are the guys tasked with making the second film better.

I really loved Zombieland, and genuinely thought it was the most fun I had in the cinema in 2009. Its melding of genres, and utter sharpish obviously came from the writers initially, so let's hope they can continue that trend.
